About
the Blue Flag
In June 2010 Carabassi
Playa located within the Municipality of Elche was
awarded it's first Blue Flag 2010 as part of the Blue
Flag programme operated by the independent non-profit
organisation Foundation for Environmental Education
(FEE).
Carabassi beach continues
to receive the pristigious Blue Flag Award.
The award of a Blue
Flag beach is based on compliance with 32 criteria
covering the aspects of environmental education and
information, water quality, environmental management,
safety and facilities. In the last few years Carabassi
Playa has seen beach bars, water sports centre and
an aquatic inflatable park.
Carabassi Playa is a
beautiful, open and unspoiled beach with fine sand
and calming sea ideal for all the family. It's situated
next to the Carabassí Sierra, an ecological
protection area formed by the dunes and pine trees
creating an area of ecological interest.
The Clot de Galvany
(nature reserve) is close by where locals and visitors
to Gran Alacant can enjoy the local scenery and wildlife.
Carabassi Playa is also
popular with naturists; as there are many sand dunes
to be found. |
