Interclub Arenales was formed in 1983 and comprises mainly British people who either live in Spain or visit the area for holidays. It aims to provide a meeting point for ex-pats, and does this by organizing social events where you can both enjoy the function and meet and exchange views with others like you.
The full registered name of the club is the International Club of Arenales but this is rarely used nowadays, particularly with the club now being based in Gran Alacant.
The club meets twice a month on Thursday evenings at the Rincon Restaurant, Monte Mar in Gran Alacant and stages dances with live music and quiz evenings. Both come with a four course meal and drinks. We also have a cards section which holds a weekly whist drive, a weekly Art class and annual Car Rally and Petanca competitions.
Our membership fee is only 6 € a year and the entrance fee for dances and quiz evenings is 11 €. Non members can come to events for 13 €. We are a friendly, fun group and you will be made very welcome. Why not pay us a visit and find out for yourselves?
For our programme and more information visit our website at www.interclubarenales.webs.com or call or email President Bob Newby on (0034) 966 697 439 or [email protected]
The club actively supports the charity Cotalengo in Alicante. Cotalengo is an organization run by nuns which looks after poor people who are physically and/or mentally disabled. They receive no governmental support and rely on companies, organizations and individuals for their income. Club members contribute to a weekly collection to which the club adds a donation. Cotalengo is visited twice a year when the club makes donations of cash, clothes, toys books or anything else that can be turned into cash.
The current committee comprises :- Bob Newby – President; John Denington – Vice President; Peter Atkins – Treasurer; Jo Stacey – Secretary and Committee Members – Chris Dennington; Barry Thompson; Jill Newby and Alice Atkins.
If you are interested in joining the club or finding out more about us, contact us or join us on a Thursday evening.
The Cards Section meets at 7.45pm for 8.00pm every Tuesday evening during the club season at Las Palomas restaurant in Arenales. You can enjoy a very friendly game of progressive whist and the section welcomes card players of any standard from beginner to experts. The atmosphere is always relaxed and the knives stay firmly in their scabbards.
A charge of 2 Euros per person is made all of which is distributed as prizes on the evening.
