Santa Pola to host start of stage 8 of La Vuelta

Santa Pola will host the start of stage 8 of the Cycling Tour of Spain La Vuelta that takes place between the fishing town and La Manga del Mar Menor, making a total of 163.3 km.

This morning the route of the Cycling Tour of Spain was officially presented in Burgos, which will begin on the 14th August. At the same time, Carlos Mazón, President of the Alicante Provincial Council and Eduardo Dolón, Provincial Sports Deputy have travelled to the fishing village, who have held a meeting with the Mayor Loreto Serrano on the organization of the start of stage 8 from Santa Pola.

This year, the Alicante Provincial Council has opted for one of the stages that they pass by the Costa Blanca have their exit in the fishing village. Will be next August 21, when the head of the race crosses the starting line that will be located on Avenida Fernando Perez Ojeda, in the absence of confirmation by the organization.

Loreto Serrano, Mayor of Santa Pola thanked Excma. Council of Alicante its commitment to Santa Pola, and also pointed out that “it is a great joy for the municipality that a stage of the return starts from here, the work and the effort to promoting sports tourism in the town is reflected in these events and now that we live very hard times, a test of this magnitude will give us a international tourist projection, as well as favoring the promotion of trade and hostelry.”

Santa Pola acogerá la salida de la etapa 8 de la Vuelta Ciclista a España que transcurre entre la localidad pesquera y La Manga del Mar Menor, haciendo un total de 163,3 km.

Esta mañana se ha presentado oficialmente el recorrido de la Vuelta Ciclista a España en Burgos, la cual iniciará el 14 de Agosto. Al mismo tiempo, hasta la villa marinera se ha desplazado Carlos Mazón, Presidente de la Diputación de Alicante y Eduardo Dolón, Diputado Provincial de Deportes que han mantenido una reunión con la Alcaldesa Loreto Serrano sobre la organización de la salida de la etapa 8 desde Santa Pola.

Este año, la Diputación de Alicante ha apostado para que una de las etapas que transcurren por la Costa Blanca tenga su salida en la villa marinera. Será el próximo 21 de Agosto, cuando la cabeza de carrera cruce la línea de salida que estará ubicada en la Avenida Fernando Perez Ojeda, a falta de confirmación por la organización.

Loreto Serrano, Alcaldesa de Santa Pola ha agradecido a la Excma. Diputación de Alicante su apuesta por Santa Pola, y además apuntaba que “es una gran alegría para el municipio que una etapa de la vuelta salga desde aquí, el trabajo y el esfuerzo por potenciar el turismo deportivo en la localidad se refleja en estos eventos y ahora que vivimos momentos muy duros, una prueba de esta envergadura nos va a dar una proyección turística internacional, así como favorecer la otenciación del comercio y hostelería.”
