Every dog has its day and that day came recently at the inauguration of the Gran Alacant Dog Park, situated at the main entrance behind the petrol station adjacent to the park.

Owners and their four-legged friends are now able to enjoy two new designated areas including an agility area and another for exercising and socializing. There is a dog washing area, plenty of shaded areas and benches.

`The park is is an amazing achievement for us. We have all worked very hard, our members and neighbours´ said Olatz Mensua of ASPETGA.

`The park is the result of a signature drive and a project that was presented to the Town Hall. Our goal is to have a safe and secure place for animals and an area to do events like this one´.

During the day, there were numerous activities, like the basic dog training, a dog police presentation and a therapy professional talking about the benefits of adopting a pet.

Olatz also gave thanks to the organisations for their presentations including Tierras del Seguras, Carazones de Oro Perros de Servicio, Salucan and the Santa Pola´s Unidad Canina.

The project is funded by the Ayuntamiento Santa Pola.

The ASPETGA Association are now working hard on their next project, a designated area on the beach for dogs along the coastal road to Santa Pola.
