COUNCIL: Elche allow bathing on its beaches but without lifeguard service, from Monday 1st June (Lifeguards starts 2nd or 3rd week of June, like every year)

COUNCIL ANNOUNCEMENT: Communicated 29th May 2020

The mayor of Elche, Carlos González, accompanied by the councilors of Citizen Security, Ramón Abad, and of Playas, Carles Molina, announced this morning at a telematic press conference that, due to the advance to phase 2, bathing will be allowed in the illicit beaches from Monday, June 1. However, the mayor has called for individual responsibility since, according to what he has reported, “the rescue and first-aid services will not be operational until the second or third week of June, as is done every year.”

Also during this period the police force will double. In addition, González has announced the creation of the Beach Management Entity, made up of managers and technicians from the areas of Beaches, Tourism, Public Safety and Maintenance. “Organ that develops a determining role in the organization of the use that the beaches will have during the summer season,” stressed the mayor, who has continued to point out that “the main objective of this entity is to guarantee the safety and protection of the health of citizens who want to enjoy our 9 kilometers of beaches in summer ”.
