AROUND GRAN ALACANT
We'll soon be welcoming this guy to our rescue centre, as part of a joint rescue operation with Andrea's Animal Rescue & The Henrietta Foundation. He's a little stallion who's been abandoned for about a month on a piece of wasteland at Cartagena, about an hour south of us here at Rojales. He's been tied up with rope and locals have just been throwing him bits of food to keep him going.
Andrea was contacted about this pony but simply doesn't have any more space at her centre and is currently paying for several rescues to stay in livery yards, so we agreed to help. We actually almost had an adoption home lined up for this little fella, but unfortunately that has fallen through. So Andrea went to pick him up yesterday and he's in a livery yard now until he can be brought to us.
This will bring our current number of residents to 104, which is obviously a huge commitment. But we feel that this is a lovely story of two rescue centres working together to ultimately benefit the animal.

An interview with Rod on the new boundary wall
A little interview with our boundary wall construction extraordinaire Rod, who's now beginning the footings on the last section of our 218 metre-long wall.
It’s amazing now how quickly the whole thing is coming on, with the block work that’s already up now being rendered. Once it's all finished, a lorry will come and pump concrete inside the holes of all the blockwork, making the wall seriously strong. Then metal fencing will go on top and the internal structure for the horse shelters will also happen.
Thieves actually recently stole our expensive water pump and some of Rod's tools – yet again – so you can see just how important this secure boundary fence is to protect our equipment and horses.

Thanks to the good audience at our last show we have been able to help once more, this very worhty cause, especially at a time when their resources are being stretched to the limit. We know that the organization spends a lot of money caring for those people less fortunate.... and Christmas is a time especially for "giving"...
