Carabassi
Playa awarded Blue Flag 2010 | Playas de Elche
In June 2010 Carabassi beach located
within the Municipality of Elche was awarded with the pristigious
Blue Flag 2010 as part of the Blue Flag programme operated by
the independent non-profit organisation Foundation for Environmental
Education (FEE).
The award of a Blue Flag beach is
based on compliance with 32 criteria covering the aspects of environmental
education and information, water quality, environmental management,
safety and services.

Carabassi
beach is a beautiful, open and unspoiled beach with fine sand
and calming sea ideal for all the family. It's situated next to
the Carabassí Sierra, an ecological protection area formed
by the dunes and pine trees creating an area of ecological interest.
The Clot de Galvany (nature reserve)
is close by where locals and visitors to Gran Alacant can enjoy
the local scenery and wildlife.
Carabassi beach is also popular
with naturists; as there are many sand dunes to be found.

There
were new facilities on Carabassi Beach during 2009/10 including
walkways, foot showers, children's play area and car park.

L'Altet
L'Altet has a long stretch of open
and white sandy beach and has again been given a Blue Flag beach
2010 award where there are many services on offer to visitors.
Arenales del Sol
Arenales beach is very popular with
both residents and Spanish visitors to the area. Just a few minutes
drive north of Gran Alacant there is wonderful fine golden sand
and many services. Easily spotted by the blocks of apartments
running parallel between the promenade and beach.
