Pat and Jeff travelled the Bilbao to Gran Alacant route and they share their experience with mygranalacant.com

'The planning for the return journey requires some fairly careful timing. Essentially, using the same route in reverse, but one needs to consider TWO night stops. Say Terruel and one other quite near to Bilbao. This is because the return ferry leaves just after midday and one needs to limit the travel on the final day to about 2-3 hours. The P&O ferry finally arrives in Portsmouth about 17.00 local time...'

`Hi All, me and my family have travelled to Monte y Mar for the past two years.

We set out from Wiltshire and drove down to Dover and got the ferry crossing to Dover and drove all the way down to Beziers in South of France for an overnight stay about an hour from the Spanish border.

Day 2. We set out at 7am and drove down to Gran Alacant arriving about 5pm, to be honest it was so tiring; so this year we intend to get a ferry from Portsmouth down to Bilbao with Brittany ferries new service starting in April. It's quite expensive in August but it will be worth it.
